Southern Rhône Wines

Monsieur Christophe

About

A long time dream has finally come true for (Monsieur) Christophe: launching his own line of Southern Rhône wines!

All wines are
grown, harvested, made and bottled in Vaison-la-Romaine, on the foothills of Mont Ventoux, in the Southern Rhône Valley.

The plots are located on the
Northern slopes of Mont Ventoux: its steepest, wildest and cooler side.

The terroirs are all on the northern slope of Mont Ventoux, up to 500 meters above sea level. The Ventoux AOP is vast, and the majority of the vines are located to the south. However, there are significant differences between the two sides, notably:

Percentage of vines in the agricultural area:
North: Beaumont du Ventoux (16.7%) and Malaucène (33.4%)
South: Bédouin (72.2%)

Distance as the crow flies to reach the 1,600 meters of elevation gain between the plain and the summit:
North: 3 km
South: 12 km

The north face therefore has both a much steeper profile and greater biodiversity (lavender, olive trees, cherry trees, truffle oaks, groves, etc.). More open to the Mistral wind, it also records higher average precipitation.

Mr Christophe’s bet? The richness, adaptability and diversity of this territory that he loves and explores so much.

The first three wines are AOP Ventoux vintage 2024: Red, White and Rosé.
Fresh, Adventurous, Energetic.

They are created in cooperation with Edwige Bourchet, dynamic Director of
Cave La Romaine, just down the road from home.

The Madman of the Mountain is currently working on his next project with his friend and neighbour Patrice Chevalier to create a single-plot Cotes-du-Rhône Villages “Vaison-la-Romaine” (a separate appellation recognised in 2016). Cerified Organic. Watch this space for more information to come!
